THE SURF CAMP FOUNDER &
Sri Lanka's Surfing Champion
Lucky’s love for the ocean has shaped his journey from a passionate young surfer to National Champion of Sri Lanka, and now the proud founder of Lucky’s Surf Camp.
After years of competing and teaching, Lucky wanted to share Sri Lanka’s unique surf culture and introduce others to the thrill of riding waves. He created Lucky’s Surf Camp as a place to inspire people from all over the world. He blends his expert knowledge with the laid-back, welcoming vibe of Sri Lankan culture.
Today, Lucky has built an incredible team of experienced surf coaches who embody his detailed and thorough teaching approach. The focus on deeper learning and attention to detail. It’s not just about entertainment—our camp stands out by helping surfers progress quickly and safely
But Lucky’s Surf Camp isn’t just about improving your surf skills—it’s about embracing the entire surf lifestyle. From the waves to the community, Lucky’s mission is to create a space where guests leave not only as better surfers, but with unforgettable memories and a deeper connection to the surf culture he loves.
THE KIND HEART
Lucky has witnessed firsthand the many hardships faced by local communities in Sri Lanka. From the devastating 2004 tsunami to the Easter bombings, the COVID pandemic, and the recent economic crisis, it has been not always easy. Through it all, Lucky has always recognized the importance of giving back and supporting those around him.
Having once received secondhand surfboards from travelers passing through Sri Lanka, Lucky now gives back by providing surf equipment and guidance to underprivileged local youth. He also organizes food relief for families in need through the “Kind Sri Lanka” campaigns.
He regularly organizes beach cleanups to maintain his home beach in Weligama. This helps keep it clean, safe, and beautiful for both locals and tourists.
